You might have seen my post last week on Delamere’s Goats Butter. Well, over the weekend I thought I’d try out something else from their range; the goats yoghurt.
I am a MASSIVE fan of yoghurt, fresh fruit and some dried fruit/nuts on top with honey. It’s a near-perfect breakfast for me, and given that I’ve recently been trying to avoid cow’s milk, I needed to quickly find an alternative.
There’s all the details about Delamere in my other post, so I’ll cut straight to it. The yoghurt *is* tart, so for me, the honey was a necessity – but it was also really creamy. I’d liken it to Greek yoghurt more than anything else. Delamere also do a version with added honey, so that’s an option if you don’t want to add your own, or you’re eating it away from home.
The texture is quite runny, like a traditional plain yoghurt, while the others in Delamere’s range (with fruits added) are more like fromage frais. The plain one tastes distinctively of goat, and may take some a while to get used to, while the ones mixed with other flavourings are a little easier to handle.
Whichever you pick, they contain less lactose than those made from cow’s milk, and as such are generally better for those with sensitive stomachs, plus it has more calcium in it! (33% vs. 28%)
